POTLUCK DINNER with guest performer ....

GEORGE WORTHMORE

George Worthmore, a star in the New York City music scene for over twenty years, began with a one-year stint as a guitarist with Kinky Friedman. He's played backup guitar for Bo Diddley, Ben E. King, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Lou Christy, and The Platters. He has also played shows as a second guitarist with Hot Tuna. Performing with own his band, The Divebombers, he was joined on stage by such stars as Billy Idol and Paul Schaffer (band leader on the Letterman show), and Chris Spedding. Guitar monster Rick Derringer was a frequent guest artist, as well as the producer of George's early work. George studied with Dave Van Ronk and Ian Buchannon, both students of the Rev. Gary Davis. He had the honor of playing with Johnny Shines and Robert Jr. Lockwood when they were in New York City. He has also played as a regularly featured act at both Manny's Car Wash and Dan Lynch's Blues Bar, two of New York City's top venues. He made a career playing Rock'n'Roll and Rockabilly but his beginnings are in country blues.  A true "Roots" guitarist, George is equally at home playing  Surf music, or Country. In 1997, after three tours to South Africa, George bought the night club where he performed, The Blues Room. He turned it into the most prestigious live music venue in the country. Since 2004 he has expanded his performing into film and TV and has acted with William H. Macy, Robert Vaughn, and Ron Perlman. In 2007, after an award winning 10 year run, George sold the Blues Room and has returned to performing. His show is a tour de force of solo acoustic guitar, from Ragtime to Blues, with some Bach thrown in for the more serious appreciators of the instrument. The songs are interlaced with humorous comments and amusing stories about the songs and his life in music.

ROCK DA HALL!! featuring ....

THE HARD LESSONS

Exit 49

The Reactions

Detroit, MI - Returning Foundry Hall favorites and winner of the Detroit Music Awards for "Best Live Performance," The Hard Lessons make rock music. Not the kind of rock music that plays during beer commercials or in the background at party scenes in bad movies, but the kind of rock that inspires people to stand up, stomp the floor, and allow themselves to be transported somewhere else. In a nod to both the serial comic strips of the 40's (think Superman), as well as the record clubs of the 90's (think Sub Pop), they recently released the fourth and final installment of their multi-part series, "B & G Sides". Release dates began in November 2007 on both CD and 45 with special interrelating artwork, each single chronicling modern life from both a male and female perspective, as seen through the eyes of the band's male and female vocalists (and songwriters) Augie and Ko Ko. And now, recording of their anticipated new full-length album is very much underway. Zach Shipps is once again behind the boards, and the newlyweds Augie and Korin are handcrafting a batch of songs that represent a logical step forward from their ambitious B & G Sides project, while at the same time harkening back to the energy and attitude displayed on the band's early releases like "Wise Up!" and "Gasoline."
